I absolutely loved the stunning views and the cozy king room with its comfortable bed. The breakfast was exceptional, with cook-to-order options and a great variety of choices. The relaxing bar area, complete with an open fire, was the perfect spot to unwind. I did encounter some challenges with the check-in process. Finding the hotel was tricky due to a lack of clear signage, and it took longer than expected to get our keys. the uneven driveway was a bit concerning, with several potholes making the entrance less inviting. the stay was enjoyable but could greatly improve with better navigation and check-in efficiency.

The decor is definitely dated and in need of some TLC, affecting the overall atmosphere of the place. Communal areas showed signs of wear, with some peeling wallpaper and unclean carpets that didn’t scream 'charming'. I noticed noise disturbances from plumbing that woke me up early on a couple of mornings-definitely not the peaceful retreat I was hoping for. It was frustrating to encounter complications during the check-in process, which took longer than expected. And while the breakfast choices were extensive, I found the evening dining options limited during off-peak hours, as the evening meal wasn't available at times when I really wanted it.

Perfect location for a getaway with friends! We enjoyed lovely hikes in the Nent Valley and visited a quaint local coffee shop. Breakfast was cooked to order, and the staff were super accommodating, always ready to help with anything. The rooms were comfy, making our group stay memorable!
We did face a few hiccups finding the hotel since there were no signs, and GPS was a must to get there.

Charming retreat for solo travelers
Spent a week here, and it was such a peaceful escape! The views were stunning, and the comfy bed in my economy double room made it super cozy. Breakfast was a highlight, with all the good stuff! Just a bit tricky to find the place since it’s off the beaten path, but totally worth it.

It was just a prime choice for a short break in Alston with good value for price. The cottage had a well-stocked kitchen/diner, which was great for preparing meals. Take a torch for late-night outings since it can get quite dark outside.
